Women Build
2008 Women's Breast Cancer Awareness Build!
“This one's for the girls” takes on a new meaning for the Women's Build 2008! Habitat for Humanity of Lafayette and the YWCA Women's Cancer Program are partnering to build a house and hope for women in the greater Lafayette community. The purpose of the partnership is to not only build a house for a qualified Habitat homeowner, but to raise awareness about Breast Cancer issues and services offered in the community.
"We are excited about this unconventional way to raise awareness of our services for those women in our community who are uninsured or underinsured,” said Ruth Breyley, Director, YWCA Women's Cancer Program. “We are ready to put on our pink hard hats and help build lives."
The 2008 Women's Breast Cancer Awareness Build is a four-week accelerated build at 2200 North 20th Street. Misty Farrell, a Lowe's employee, is this year's Partner Family. Framing will begin on August 2nd, following an 8:00 Ground Blessing Ceremony. We will work Wednesday through Saturday.
