Veteran Build

This year, Habitat for Humanity of Lafayette is having its first Veteran Build—building a house with a veteran in honor of all veterans.

Construction kicked-off with a Flag Raising Ceremony on Veteran's Day, November 11 and should be completed by Christmas!

Meet the Family!

Jeremy has been with the National Guard in Lafayette for 9 years. During that time he has been deployed 3 times. In 2004-2005 he served in Kosovo with the military police and in telecommunications repair. He was sent to Mississippi in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina and worked with the military police. Finally in 2008-2009 he was stationed in Iraq, once again with the military police and in telecommunications repair. He has worked the past few months as a night security guard at SIA.

Jeremy is a native of Battlecreek, Michigan. His wife, Julie, was born in Manila, Philippines. They have two sons, Alfred Julian “AJ” (2) and Julian Alexander “Alex” (6). Alex is a first grader at Miracle Bethel Christian Academy.

As a family, they love to read books together. AJ enjoys watching movies and “finding out his limits”. Julie loves to spend time talking to her family in the Philippines, while Jeremy participates in martial arts.

Thank you, Jeremy, for your service to our country!

The first Veteran Build is being supported by donations and volunteers from the following organizations: Cargill, Hippensteel Funeral Service and Crematory, Hahn-Groeber Funeral Home, Sam's Club, Tippecanoe County Employees, Purdue Air Force ROTC, Purdue Army ROTC, Purdue Naval ROTC, Chico's, Puccini's, Community Reformed Church, St. John's Episcopal Church, Calvary Baptist, Federated Church of West Lafayette, Heartland Community Church, Purdue Christian Campus House, Sunrise Christian Reformed Church, Immanuel United Church of Christ, First Baptist Church, Connexion Christian Ministries and other individuals in the community!

To help support the build and honor a beloved veteran at the same time, click here to print the form to purchase a square foot or paver.

Honoring the following veterans for answering the call to provide shelter for our freedom and protection for the United States of America.
